The VP, Accounting role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting to ensure stabilized cash flow for the company. This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer. 
  • 4-year college degree in accounting; CPA required
  • 8+ years’ public accounting experience and/or 10+ years’ relevant private industry real estate experience
  • Experience with real estate/REIT reporting
  • Experience in supervisory roles and staff development
  • Ability to multi-task and exhibit strong organizational skills
  • The VP, Accounting supervises Assistant Controllers and other Accounting team members.

  • Provide leadership and set the tone for a high-performing company that intends to grow; Critically evaluate the Department’s human resources needs/opportunities and help train or hire employees to meet those needs
  • Maintain reporting on a quarterly/annual basis to attract institutional capital including preparation of financial statements with footnotes that follow US GAAP
  • Work closely with the CAO and banks to develop and maintain lending/depository relationships and access to capital
  • Oversee department of assistant controllers and accountants to ensure all entities/properties are closed, consolidations are completed by the 10th of the following month
  • Implement any new accounting policies/procedures as necessary to achieve company objectives and/or to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with the Executive team and other operating personnel to ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting and end user needs are met
  • Serve as primary contact and work closely with the auditors to negotiate fees, resolve any audit matters and ensure timely completion of the annual audits
  • Monitor cash flow of the Company and prepare annual/monthly cash flow forecasts
  • Ensure the departments maintain compliance with monthly and annual property reporting requirements of lenders, HUD and third-party investors
