  • Our client is a $7B+ publicly traded company (specialty manufacturing and distribution).
  • Position is based in executive offices downtown Chicago, within two blocks of Oglesby Train Station, with close access to top level executives (about 50 people in this office).
  • The company has been thru the downturn, is growing quickly, and is highly profitable.

    •  Associate with 1-2 years’ experience, up to $70k.

  • Big 4 experience preferred, but will look at candidates from other firms.
  • Must have CPA or plan to obtain CPA in the near term.
  • 3.2 GPA or higher.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills required, experience in purchase accounting preferred.
  • Experience with SEC reporting and related requirements.
  • Effective business writing, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work effectively with various levels of management.
  • Experience using COGNOS Controller and WebFilings a plus
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and manage external reporting requirements, i.e. 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy filings.
  • Maintain XBRL tags for 10-K and 10-Q filings, including an annual refresh as new taxonomies are released.
  • Perform accounting research for various issues as they arise, including release of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Perform reviews of purchase accounting and related disclosures for new acquisitions, including assessment of intangible assets (may include coordination with third-party valuation firm).
  • Perform account reviews of certain corporate-level or consolidated accounts, such as derivatives (including hedge effectiveness), goodwill impairment, and capital lease tests.
  • Participate in monthly review of financial statements and results.
  • Provide support to other business units in organization by investigating questions and issues.
  • Prepare presentations with the help of Investor Relations.
  • Execute internal control procedures, maintain support for disclosures related to various filings, and execute account reviews.
